Why Chicago? (499 words) - It's rather straightforward. Just want a couple of second opinions before submitting. There are a couple of references in the conclusion I'm not sure the reader will pick up on, so I'd like to get feedback on that.

Story of a Street (256 words) - It's literally a story about a street. A rather dark description of a street in downtown Los Angeles, kinda about the dichotomy between the light and the dark, the ugly and the beautiful, old and new. I know it's short, but I'd like to get some opinions about whether I should add some me-time to make it longer. I rather enjoy the description on its own, but the prompt said "a page or two". Can anybody tell me if it's possible to send in a <300-word essay for the extended essay? I packed a lot in those 256 words. Plus my Common App was approaching 1,000 words...don't want to make those adcoms too sick of my writing. :P

I'm not picky about readers, as long as they give sincere reviews. Pick one or both, just indicate in your post which you'd like me to PM to you. I appreciate reviews with actual comments about the essay and not, "Nice essay," or something just as lackluster.
