To any student or parent with students that have used AP credit at NU, how much did they help?
My son is in the school of Communications. He accumulated substantial AP credits during high school, and his Northwestern advisor told him he could conceivably graduate from Northwestern in 3 years if he was so inclined. He is not planning on doing that - instead he is looking at double majoring in Math or Computer Science.
Here’s the AP credit policy for the school of Communications. The policies are different for McCormick (school of Engineering) and Weinberg (arts and sciences), but still seem fairly generous.

I know a premed neuroscience major (Weinberg) junior who is graduating this June because of AP credits. I am hoping to graduate 2 quarters early in school of comm.
Thanks to getting all 5s on his AP tests, my son entered NU as a “Freshman with Sophomore Standing”. He could have graduated in 3 years, but instead chose to graduate in 4 years with BS and MS degrees in engineering.
@nugraddad How many AP tests did he take?
@idahopho - He took 12 AP tests, but only 11 counted at NU. AP Physics didn’t count, but the AP Calc based AP Physics did.
