I got a 4 in Calc BC and talked to an academic advisor about me going into MAC 2313. He said it is “recommended” that I do, but I’m not entirely sure if I should.

One of the leaders at the Engineering presentation said he went in to Calc 3 with a 5 on the BC exam and ended up with a C. He regrets doing that cause his GPA sunk. Another one, who also had a 5 on BC, retook Calc 2 (or Calc 1, I forgot) and got the easy A(s).

Not saying you shouldn’t, but yea.

The thing is, iSenior, that every student is different. Some students have much more Calculus experience coming out of Calc BC then others (I personally have 3 years worth of Calculus at a normal school). Some student have become dependent on the calculator (which makes no sense since like 60% of the test is no calculator). And finally some students are afraid to seek help if they are struggling. Of course those students at the engineering preview are saying take Calc 2 again… it is the “company policy.” They wouldn’t be asked to talk at preview if they were successful in Calc 3 after taking BC. You took AP Calculus BC to get credit, why should you waste it?

I agree with you. Everyone is different. I was just giving him some examples. If he is confident with his mastery of the subjects, then he should enroll in Calc 3.

Thank you, iSenior and SableWarrior! My AP Calculus BC teacher did a fantastic job at teaching my class the necessary material if we had planned on going straight into Calc 3, but I’ve heard a lot of people saying that it would be best to take it easy the first semester to get the hang of how classes are taught in college as opposed to a high school setting.

Did you have to pay collegeboard to resend his scores?

Thanks Zebes

I wonder how long it takes for them to change your schedule after emailing them after getting your scores. Whenever you schedules get updated post here for time reference.

I emailed them the day after they were on ISIS.

My new schedule is up on ISIS
