Will Applying for Transfer Affect My Aid?

I'm applying for transfer to Stanford, but I still need to re-apply for aid at my current school. However, from what I remember, the financial aid offices at both schools can see the full list of schools for which I'm applying for aid. So, if my current institution sees that I'm also applying for aid from Stanford and realizes I'm trying to transfer, will they cut my aid for 2013-2014? Basically, what affect will an attempt to transfer have on the aid I receive at my current school for the next year?

It is highly unlikely I will get into Stanford, so I'll probably be stuck here next year. lol But I would rather not have a failed attempt at transfer affect the amount of money I end up paying at my current school.

I very much doubt your school will bother looking at the other schools on your FAFSA. I work in financial aid & have no interest in looking at the other school codes; I am too busy doing my own job.

Didn’t you have to ask your current school to send a transcript to Stanford anyway? Usually to transfer, the new school wants to see official grades. That right there would let your current school know you are applying elsewhere.

Your current schools won’t care. Lots of kids apply to transfer. Most end up not doing so. They will process your info without consideration that you may be transferirng because you probably will not be.
