My parents really pushed me to apply early to schools (but all RD or EA, since we need to consider financial aid). I sent my common app for NYU (and everything else) a week ago, and now I'm wondering if I should've waited. My transcript just says my classes for senior year, not any grades, because my first quarter ends November 12th. It's not that my grades last year aren't good enough, but, I realize they probably would want to see how I'm doing in my classes, since they're a higher level. (Last year, I only had 1 AP, US history, since at my school most APs are only available to seniors. So I had all honors besides that, except for electives.) I guess if they want to see my grades they'll contact my high school, but will the fact that they won't see them affect their decision at all? I'm fairly confident seeing my senior grades wouldn't change anything, but they don't know that. Any thoughts?

I don’t think it will affect you. They might ask for your first quarter grades when they become available, but since you say you’re doing fine, that’s obviously not a problem. Good luck!

With RD applications, they won’t even begin to read your application until every part of it, including your first semester grades, have been submitted. So there’s really no advantage or disadvantage to sending in the applications early.
