I currently hold a place at a top 10 UK uni, and whilst I’m waiting on 7 US college decisions I’m very aware that they’re all very competitive and therefore I shall assume I’m not going to get in anywhere.
If I do decide to carry on to grad studies after my undergrad degree (which is my current plan, but I’m very aware it may change), would having attended a UK uni be a hindrance in applying to top US schools? I’m a UK citizen.
Thanks.
No. Not if you did well, that is. @MYOS1634 would perhaps be able to give you more insight.
What kind of graduate studies in the US, what UK university / universities, and
what ‘course’ are you admitted for?
@Lindagaf Thanks! I am aiming to do well (but then who isn’t?) @MYOS1634 not sure yet, probably a masters… A humanities course at a consistently top 10 Russell Group uni (sorry for vaugeness).
Then, no, you wouldn’t be hindered at all. Do well and practice for the GRE.
@MYOS1634 Great, thanks! That’s really good to hear
There’s a good chance some of the faculty at the universities you will be applying to will be from the UK for starters. Top departments will draw their faculty and grad students from all over the world.
No it won’t hurt you at all. Except perhaps in medicine. If anything you will appear a bit “exotic” and many grads schools like people from different backgrounds.
