Continued from last post. At schools like Choate I have heard of 60 applying to Brown. There are some high schools private and public where so many of the kids are top students taking the most rigorous curriculum. At other schools in the country particularly in the south and midwest, there could be around 15 who have the rigorous curriculum with high grades and stats as many probably go to the state school. Of that 15 maybe 10 decide to apply to the ivy league and of that 10 perhaps only a few have something other than grades and scores that help them stand out. As I have posted on another thread the south and midwest is laid back about college admissions unlike hte northeast. Many students in these cities fail to realize that it is not enough to have high SAT scores and top grades with a rigorous curriculum. They think that being editor in chief of the yearbook or captain of their varsity team is enough. They dont realize that they need to have leadershp in their extra curriculars, passion, exceptional commumity service, exceptional talent ect - so typically only those few who have those things or are legacies, development admits or recruited athletes get in.

Never listen to quotas, or even go based upon trends at your own school. At my really small school (500 kids) for example, GCs have always claimed that Harvard will only take one, MAYBE two per year, and evidenced past records of acceptances to prove it. This year, they took three kids from my school in the early round alone, and there are 7 of us applying regular. It really, really varies, so I wouldn't worry about being knocked out because of a peer being recruited.

can anyone of you tell me how many poeple attend brown from india ? and how many apply ?
