So I got into Cal Poly as a sociology major with a 4.05 GPA and a 1210/1600 SAT score. However, on my application, I listed that I would be taking 6 units throughout my senior year. I passed 3 units, but failed my other 3 units because of a big misunderstanding on a pass/fail assignment in that class. Cal Poly’s email and admission page said “You must complete all coursework designated on your application, including those listed as “in progress” or “planned,” with a grade of “C” (or better) no later than the previous Spring Term for admission for the Fall Term. You must maintain the academic standard that allowed for your admission.” It wasn’t a required course that I failed, though. It was a psychology class that I just wanted to take as an elective. Will Cal Poly rescind my application? I plan on calling later today, just very anxious to have an idea on what will happen.
I suggest you see your school counselor right away. Ask him or her to intervene on your behalf. Your counselor might be able to mitigate any damage.
What do you think? Talk to your GC and see if they can intercede.
Agree about talking to your GC ASAP. Can you also talk to the teacher in the class to try to work something out to get you a C at least?
