WILL CHANCE BACK, Chance me for MIT, Caltech, & Other Ivies!

I'm applying to Caltech MIT Georgetown Georgia Tech & U Chicago early.
Please give me some recommendations for what colleges to apply to regular (my EA schools are all high reaches!)

School Stats - 4.75 GPA (brought down greatly by junior year - have essay explaining it....), NHS,
SAT - 2320 (790 in Math, 770 in Critical Reading, and 760 in Writing (essay score of 10))

AP - 5 in AP Physics C Mechanics, Language and Composition, Psychology, Macroeconomics, Biology, Chemistry and US History, and a 4 in AP Statistics, and Microeconomics.

Work/ Internship: 2010-2011: Maternal Fetal medicine internship; 2011 - Hematology Internship, 2009 - Manager of Retail Store

President of: Literary magazine, Service club, SADD,

Organization within which I am the head of a Committees: Bridge program (peer mentoring), SG, TSA, buildOn

Sports: Karate - black belt teacher to special needs, won lots of tournaments
Rowing & Soccer

Minor Awards: Work with cognitively challenged children, Prudential Spirit of Community award (Regional winner), Gold PVSA

I have a REC from Stat teacher - should be great.
Another from English teacher - at least good

Rec from research mentor - stellar (saw it)

Essays are all good, and put me in positive light, etc

Senior Courseload
AP Computer Science, AP Spanish, APES, AP Physics Electromagnetism, BC Calc, Brit Lit, and AP Gov't

I am first-generation girl from India (probably no effect), although a Perm. Resident.

So, what do you think??

I do not think GT is a reach at all. GU is somewhat unpredictable but, with your stats and resume, you should be accepted there as well. Also, great chances at UChicago. I think your chances at MIT and Cal Tech are very realistic.

If you are not looking or needing financial aid, I would add UC Berkeley to your list of schools. I would also consider applying to Stanford. Other schools for your consideration would be: WashUStL, Duke, Rice, Northwestern, UMichigan, UCLA, and USC. You have “Other Ivies” listed in your post but none listed so I am not sure what feedback you want. Maybe apply to a couple of them as well?
Good luck.

Hello,
There are the reach schools I am considering for RD (I have many safety/matches, but I didn’t list them.)

Penn
Brown
Columbia
Stanford
Swarthmore
Yale
JHU
Princeton
Berkeley
Princeton

Your GPA/ SAT/ SATIIs are incredible! You should be accepted to many of the places you apply! I think you will get into MIT/ Cal Tech! Good luck! :)

OP-Are you premed?

I’d say the same as previous posters. You have a good shot getting into MIT/Caltech but its quite hard to predict chances for these schools since they are so hyper competitive. Nevertheless you are a strong applicant.

I’d be very grateful if you could chance me back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1235498-chance-international-ivies-other-schools.html</a></p>

gpa: 4.75/ 5 which puts it on the sorta low side

and yes, i’ll probs be pre-med!

GT you will probably get in. Georgetown is in the match category. The other 3 are reaches, but they are for everyone, and you will be competitive. Good luck and thank you for chancing me!

Dang… I don’t think you really need to worry about being admitted anywhere. However, MIT has an extremely high suicide rate because really good students sometimes can’t handle the stress of possibly failing a class, or all the other stresses that are associated with college. The last essay in the MIT application is very important for that reason. That’s the only negative thing I can say about your application in any way. Go to Caltech so you don’t take my spot at MIT.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1228605-chance-me-mit-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

I think you probably have some of the best stats of any applicant I’ve seen on this forum. MIT and Caltech are reaches for everyone but I think you have a good shot at both. Georgia Tech, U Chicago, and GT are probably matches. Your RD schools seem to be on target as well.

“I think you probably have some of the best stats of any applicant I’ve seen on this forum.”

???

This is CC.

Last year, I applied to almost all the colleges on your list except UCB, Brown, Cal Tech and G Tech. I also know many other kids (with similar stat as yours) who applied to those colleges.

Based on what I experienced and observed,

HYPSMC: Reach
Penn, Columbia, Chicago and Swarthmore: Reach

Georgetown: Solid Chances
UCB: Great Chances
G Tech: I say you are IN.

If you apply to all those colleges, you will/might get into some of them.

Good luck to you.

Thanks a lot for the chance! You obviously have great stats and good SATs, and being female and going into engineering (I’m assuming) is a great plus too. I don’t know if you can apply to MIT, Cal Tech, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, and UChicago all early action because I know that some of them are single-choice, but I’ll still chance you as an early action candidate at each school.
MIT- low reach
Cal Tech- low reach
Georgetown- match
UChicago- high match
Georgia Tech- almost definitely in

Really good overall - you have great test scores and some really excellent ECs. Lots of your schools will still be very tough to get into though.

Penn - reach
Brown - reach
Columbia - reach
Stanford - reach
Swarthmore - high match
Yale - reach
JHU - high match
Princeton - reach
Berkeley - match

Chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1234291-chance-alaskan-top-schools-2.html</a></p>

Swarthmore: Don’t bet on it guys!

Swarthmore 2015 RD (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/swarthmore/1102881-official-swarthmore-2015-rd-decisions-thread.html</a>)

Some “high” stat applicants results

2390 790-720 4.0 Accepted
2360 (36) 780-750-740 4.0 Accepted
2370 800-770-730 97 Accepted
2340 750-750-780 4.1/4.8 Accepted

35 800-780-730 3.9 Rejected
2360 750-760-770-780 3.63 Rejected
2340 Two high 700s 3.8 Rejected

2370 800-760-740 3.93 WL
2320 (34) 800-790-760 100 WL
2350 790-800-600 3.83 WL
36 800-800-800-780 top 4% WL
2380 (35) 800-800-780 3.96 WL

Swarthmore is very unpredictable.

You won’t need Swarthmore; you are going to be admitted at plenty of great schools dare I say better than Swarthmore.

Looks like youre almost definitely in or a good match with most of these schools. I wouldn’t sweat it, they’re all great universities.

As you know for many of those schools nobody is ever safe but I think that you have a great chance everywhere

TL;DR

I kid, I kid

You’re a solid applicant for all of the top 10 schools you listed, ivies are still low reaches because nobody knows what goes on in the heads of their adcoms. You’re definitely in at Berkeley, and even more so if you’re in state.

When will it be mine turn for a stupidly high GPA?

Chance back?
