Applying to Caltech EA, RD = MIT (top choice), UPenn, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Carnegie Mellon, UC-Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD. I'd like to major in biochemistry or neuroscience

Caltech - reach
MIT - reach
UPenn - reach
Harvard - reach
Princeton - reach
CMU - match (Assuming MCS??)
UCB - match
UCLA - match
UCSD - low match

Most of the reaches are just because of the strength of the applicant pool. It may just be my personal biases but it does seem like focus on the specific major(s) is pretty relevant especially since a lot of applicants do many similar generic activities. Though if I recall correctly your research was related enough so it may not really be a big deal. Also the math program you attended is pretty good, except not as good as Canada/USA Mathcamp. ;D

very impressive academics, your ECs are really good too but not extremely special and outstanding. And your weakness is definitely not your test scores. If your essays are good, I would say:
Caltech - low reach
MIT - reach
UPenn - low reach
Harvard - reach
Princeton - reach
CMU - match
UCB - match
UCLA - low match
UCSD - low match/safety

Your grades and test scores are amazing
if you manage to get a 750 in your next attempt in CR…you could stand an excellent chance in all the colleges u have mentioned
However there would still b a lot of competition among candidates with similiar stats lyk urs
so u need strong essays to stand out as a unique applicant

Caltech: reach
MIT: reach
UPenn: low reach (very random applicant decisions amde out here)
Harvard: reach
Princeton: (not sure)
Yale: y do u wanna apply here for science and math?
Carnegie Mellon: high match
UC-Berkeley: match
UCLA: high match
UCSD: safety

Nice scores, and GPA. However, I don’t see a clear hook.

Make sure you emphasize what you are passionate about in your essays and the specific parts of each university that will you help you continue and become successful.

Going off of the research I’ve done, not taking into account EA/ED, and I might be a little generous here.

Caltech - low reach
MIT - reach
UPenn - high (reachy) match
Harvard - reach
Princeton - reach
Yale - reach
Carnegie Mellon - low match
UC-Berkeley - low match
UCLA - low match
UCSD - safety

Your GPA is envious and you have outstanding EC’s. AP scores are so-so but there are varying reports on how seriously those are considered. But of course you should cross reference this with a more reliable source, haha.

Why are people labeling CMU a high match? Is it honestly that competitive?

Caltech - reach
MIT - reach
UPenn - reach
Harvard - reach
Princeton - reach
CMU - match
UCB - match
UCLA - match
UCSD - safety

I guessed you had some Asian in you halfway through the application. I’ve seen countless people who had East Asian blood and played piano, good at math, robotics, etc.

What I think is your big big plus is the passion in your essays. Show a lot of that.
MIT and cal tech are always reaches and so are some other ivies but best of luck

Caltech - reach
MIT - reach
UPenn - reach
Harvard - reach
Princeton - reach
CMU - match
UCB - match
UCLA - match
UCSD - match

You have certainly succeeded in a lot of things, but being admitted to Ivies is always tough. If you really wrote stellar essays, I think you’ll be admitted to at least one of Caltech/MIT/UPenn/Princeton, though.

Harvard, Stanford, MIT are reaches for everybody but you have as good a chance as any applicant. CMU and Berkeley are matches and the rest are either low matches or safeties for you.

Your chance for all of them is a toss honestly. When it comes to ivies, it is a toss up once you have to good grade and test scores ( which you have). I would say the non-ivies you put you are a match with them, but for the ivies you are a low reach. Good luck!!
