I would say the state schools you’ll have an easier time but the ivies obviously are not guarentees!! Your scores should definitely come up and if you can’t force your SATs up to where you want them to be I would strongly recommend taking the ACT as it is easier to get a higher score. Your ECs also look pretty consistent which is good because colleges look for leadership. Overall I’d say maintain leadership, get those scores up, and don’t slip on any grades and you should be looking good for the majority of those schools!

I would say you are safely in Austin even though you are just outside the top 8%. It may be top 7% next year though. Your SAT is good enough to satisfy really any school at UT. What are your trying to go for anyways? If its Mccombs the. I would say rank may be a little bit of an issue. Engineering is a bit tough as well. But if your are applying to COLA, CNS, undergraduate studies, etc. then I think you are in.

Chance me back for mccombs please http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1421389-final-chances-mccombs-school-business-ut-austin.html

If you achieve that 2250, you will be in a very good position.
Cornell (ED) – high match/low reach, but it’s still competitive, never know
UCLA – Easy match with 2250
UCB – High match/Low reach just because of selectivity
Yale – Reach for everyone
Columbia – ^^
JHU – High match, maybe. Think you’ll be fine
Stanford – Reach
Rice – Low reach, high match?
UT Austin – Match
You’ll be well off with some very good schools wanting you. Don’t worry, if you reach 2250, you’ll be good.

SAT scores in the ivies are insane… upwards of perfect. but it looks like the rest of your app is amazing, and as long as you have great essays, i think you’ve got a really good chance!

good luck on that ED… i feel like the days are crawling by since i applied to my ED school!

Very impressive EC’s. Try to bump up the SAT score a tad, but otherwise a very well-rounded, holistic, excellent applicant. Also, take the ACT to see how you perform, because you may do much better on that than the SAT!

Chance me back? “Chance me for williams, davidson, cornell, brown, etc.”

@maskingtaped i would hate to be in your position right now, id die from all the stress/anxiety as i already have issues with that but good luck, im sure youll get accepted man!

@FusDORAH Thanks, i never really saw my ECs as that impressive given all these people posting here about working on really complex projects with college professors as well as publishing papers in well known magazines. And yeah, ill chance you back!

I don’t know about the other schools, but I live in Texas and I think UT is a safe yes. Do you live in Texas? It also helps that you are middle eastern (I’m assuming) they’re really looking for diversity after having to auto accept so many white kids (like me) haha

@emilyeau
Yes i do live in Texas. However, due to the competitive nature of my high school, i probably wont make it into the top 7 percent for auto-admit. Its not because im not intelligent or im unable but because of an unjust GPA based ranking where students could take AP Languages early on in freshmen year(if they were fluent) thus automatically gaining the upper hand on all students. Murrr… vent

Any more chancers?:O

Cornell - reach–but a good chance

Honestly, I’d worry more about your essays than your SAT. You have a good score, good ECs and a “difficult/unique” home situation that top schools actually kind of like. Your essays can make you stand out from the crowd, while a higher SAT score will at best really only place you in a different crowd.

Good luck with your ED at Cornell, I applied there RD, but I’m dying to hear back from my EA schools!

Chance me for Notre Dame at “EA Chances at University of Notre Dame?” please!

UCLA/UCB/Rice/UT Match
Stanford/Yale/Colombia you have as good of a chance as every one else who is applying
Cornell low reach

Work on that SAT score for the ivies, and get tons of people to help you with essays, as you want those to stand out! Good luck

I’ll agree with everyone else and say that you have an excellent chance at Cornell. ED actually can help a lot. I would also advise that for your essay (when the time comes), try to do something very unique. At highly competitive schools like you’re applying too, you’ll need an extra creative edge to stand out. As an example, I wrote mine about the AL MVP Debate in baseball this year. My counselor loved it and thought I did a terrific job on it. You’re a smart kid, I’m sure you’ll figure it out.

Also, get started on the supplements early. Trust me, after the stress that I’ve gone through, it’s worth it to start them early.

BTW thanks for your help on mine!!

Honestly, you will be safe for all of the schools you mentioned.
Your GPA is extremely high and SAT is also great!
But if you want to get into Colombia JHU Stanford, raise your SAT to 2200 at least!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1422617-ucla-chance.html

Provided you do hit 2250 as planned and also maintain your quite-stellar GPA, I think you have a decent shot most places.
