Will Chance Back! Junior HS Class of 2019

I am a junior right now and am wondering if you could chance me for schools (I list the schools I’m interested in at the bottom) My interest in majors are Psychology, Romance Languages or Pre-Medicine. Ultimately my goal is to go to medical school.

Test Scores:
-SAT: 1360

Course Load:
-Freshman Year: Algebra 1, English 9, Biology, French 1, Global Studies (no AP classes are offered at my school until 10th grade), Spanish 3 and Wellness

Freshman GPA: 3.963 ( 1 A- Each semester in Algebra 1)

-Sophomore Year: Geometry, AP US History (Only AP offered to sophomores), Spanish 4, French 2, Chemistry, English 10, Advanced Conditioning(Semester), Digital Media 1 (S) (To fulfill fine arts requirement for California Educational System)

Sophomore GPA: 4.00

-Plans for Junior Year: Spanish 5(Took AP-Exam and received 5 I have been studying Spanish since age 10), Biochemistry, French 3, AP Psychology, AP Composition, Algebra 2, Family Health, Digital Media 2(S)

-Plans for Senior Year: AP Bio, Take AP Economics exam (self-study), AP French, Pre-Calculus Honors (1), Spanish at Southern Oregon University, AP Lit, AP Government

Due to my school not being ranked very high, I believe self-studying helps give me a stronger academic profile along with allowing me to pursue interests.

-GPA Unweighed 3.9

I have extra time for extra curricular/jobs what should I look into I love languages and involvement with communities I actually enjoy communicating in foreign languages. Any suggestions what I could look into to help improve my extra curriculars.

Open to more school suggestions

What other schools that you know of that have good pre-medicine, psychology or romance language departments for majors that I would fit into academically.
I am open to any location and price at the moment. Currently, I live on the west coast but I was born in mid-west.

Of course, I do realize that at this level, admissions are quite unpredictable and cannot truly be determined, but I just wanted to know if it is worth applying or what I should do to change my chances

@vegucated26 thank you, I used your chance me post as a template I figured credit was needed and deserved.

You have strong academics and extracurriculars, but your SAT is rather low for those schools. Shoot for a 1450+ SAT and you have a good shot at those colleges.

UCLA: 15%
UCSD: 40%
UNC Chapel Hill: 15%
Brown and Hopkins: 7%
U Washington: 15%

Not really qualified to say anything on the rest, and as always, take my chances with a grain of salt.

@vogon123 thank you, one question though… how is it possible that I only have a 15% chance of getting into university of Washington when it’s acceptance is 50%

Bump

Maybe they were talking about Washington University in St. Louis that has something like a 15% acceptance rate.

Are you an OR resident? UCs will be expensive. What is your budget? Have you had that conversation with your parents?

@Sportsman88 Yes I am an Oregon resident, I know UC will be very expensive, but if I get in I will most likely go.

If you hope to get recruited I suggest you talk to your coach and communicate with college scouts/coaches as far as stats you have a strong gpa and you could definitely improve your SAT, you have alot of time to do so since you’re a rising junior (I recommend Khan Academy) and bringing new clubs into your school is great but try to focus some extracurriculars on your major, like a science club or health profession club. Good luck and enjoy junior year!

@Junior010 thank you so much for the advice I am using Kahn Academy right now I think I am on practice test number 4

@WaterpoloGod23 My bad, I was thinking about Washington University in St.Louis

@vogon123 Alright, thank you for your help though, would you like me to chance you back?

Im also looking at USC. How does that factor in?

Are you recruitable for water polo at USC? They are perennial national champions and if you are a high school All-America, you should be on their list of prospects. Of course pretty much every top water polo player in the country would be interested in attending USC.

@hamurtle I most likely would not be going to USC for water polo. But rather as a student, I would consider volunteering with the water polo team though.
