I'm applying out of state (from Connecticut). UCLA is absolutely my top choice and I sent them a little letter (not sure if they'll read it or just throw it out) just informing them that they're my top school and I'd deposit the second I heard back from them.

Please chance my at:
UCLA
UC Berkeley
Stanford

If you want, you can also do:
Columbia
Cornell
UVa
BC
McGill

Thank you so much!!

PS----------- please note that the UCs are really opening up their doors this year to out of state children because of CAs economic position (apparently they're going to a 30% acceptance of their OOS applicant pool). THANKS AGAIN!

Please chance my at:
UCLA- low reach
UC Berkeley- mid reach
Stanford- mega high reach

If you want, you can also do:
Columbia- high reach
Cornell- mid reach
UVa- low reach
BC- low reach
McGill- not sure

The UC’s are opening their doors “a little”, due to the fiscal woes, but not as much as you and many others may think-- just my opinion. Their loyalty still lies with in-state residents, CA TAX PAYERS. You are too top-heavy with selective schools, given your stats and resume, IMO. Your SAT II’s are mediocre for most of the schools you are applying to, your EC’s are a little thin, and I don’t see any CS hours.

It would be helpful to know your class rank or decile, if your school doesn’t rank, your intended major, and if there are any financial considerations that need to be met.

Good luck!

For the UC’s, it’s a low reach but, as for Stanford forget about it.

@jshain we dont rank at our school but im within the top 10% without a doubt (because only the top 10% (based off weighted gpa) can get an invitation)
my intended major is in mathematics and preferably a double in economics (i also took an NYU course in linear algebra)
financially, my family’s income has been pretty high (i live in the highest average household income city of the us), but im applying for financial aid still. but it wont be anywhere near as necessary as for some students

any more??

Good luck…You would be well served to apply to a safety or two with these (PSU, maybe?) , but I’d say you should get into some of these. Good luck! Chance back @ http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1055573-i-know-its-early-but-chances-junior.html

The UCs are VERY LITTLE reaches.

Stanford and columbia…well, i’m not going to lie to you but theyre super reaches.

BC, High match.
UVa- High match
McGill- High match

Try and apply to UCONN. They’ll definitely give you a scholarship.

thank youu!! the schools i listed i have categorized as matches or reaches, but i already have my safeties all done and like im 100% sure that theyre my safeties, so i didnt bother including them.

KEEP CHANCING
KEEP CHANCING
KEEP CHANCING
(not that im annoying or anything…)

THANK YOU!!

Don’t know too much about this but my unwieghted GPA is higher then yours weighted and I know that I would really be reaching applying to Cornell, Columbia, or Stanford.

right and im TOTALLY aware that all of those are reaches but (not to be obnoxious because i really dont want to sound like it) how rigorous has your courseload been and have you been constantly progressing upward and like its more than just gpa you know?

but yeah i completely understand what you mean i know totally theyre my reaches i just want to know mainly about the UCs anyway

buuuuuuump
