Bump also does anyone know if early action at NYU is binding? Thanks.

You should definitely be able to get into Fordham, George Washington, and Northeastern, and NYU. You have great ECs and very good grades. Colombia and Brown are a low reach as others have said. You should try to raise your critical reading section of the SAT to at least a 700 to have a great shot at both of those schools; you’re only a junior, so you still have time to do this.

Although im no admissions officer, id say you have a solid chance for just about all the schools. your extra curriculars are a huge help. as a senior try to start as early as possible, once school starts, you wont have much time for anything. Good luck!!

You should be fine. You seem to have outstanding qualifications

Matches except columbia and brown. Good luck

You’re a junior, so you definitely have time to get those SATs up. I’d aim for a 2300+ if Columbia/Brown are your top choices. Playing your fundraising angle will really help you – not many high school students are able to fund raise 50K. Make sure you submit an arts supplement for viola! And getting all As in hard courses this year will really make your apps stand out.

Northeastern University - Safety
Fordham University - Safety
Brown University - Mid Reach
New York University - Easy Match
Columbia University - High Reach
George Washington University - Safety

Have you thought about Georgetown? I think that school would go right along with the list you have.

I think that depending on the way you write your essays (I’d use music if I were you) you have a solid shot, especially since you’re setting yourself as different, which can make up for your GPA (which isn’t that bad compared to others who are applying/getting in)

chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1579580-chance-me-will-chance-back.html

I would agree with the majority of these fellow members.

However if the schools want SAT II (too lazy to look up) I would suggest either retaking a test for a higher score or take another one as some schools (like Georgetown which I am applying to) want 3 subject tests.

Nice matches for all except Brown. My brother had 35 ACT and 4.51 weighted and I thought he would be an ideal applicant, however he was rejected.

Northeastern University: Match
Fordham University: Match
Brown University: Reach
New York University: Match
Columbia University: Reach
George Washington University: High Match

I require some help
I am Indian student looking forward for undergraduate studies in USA and Singapore. I want to major in Computer-Sciences. I am confused as I am unable to decide which university to apply for ?

MY SAT-I was not as good as SAT-II.
SAT-I in January CR:450 W:470 M:800 TOTAL=1720
SAT-I in May CR:480 W:560 M:740 TOTAL=1780
SAT-I IN June CR:490 W:610 M:750 TOTAL=1850
SAT-Highest with all 3 sittings CR:490 W:610 M:800 TOTAL=1900

SAT-II in first sitting in November
Maths Level 2 : 800 Physics : 800 Chemistry : 800

I obtained 9.6 cgpa off 10.0 in 10th grade. I am sure to secure above 90% in Indian 12 standard CBSE exams.

I am also good chess player who has won gold-medals at district level competitions and participation at state and national level competitions
I was selected Best-Chess player and captain of school’s under-19 chess team.
I have won MS-PowerPoint presentation competitions at inter-house, inter-school and tri-city level competitions
I was selected Best-computer wizard of the school and the house.
I have been student body head of school newsletter publishing department and reported directly to vice-principal and house mistress.

Now, the problem I am facing is that I dont know which colleges/universities I should apply to. With perfect scores in SAT-II some of my friends told me to apply to elite colleges like Ivy league, but I think they are crazy. Some people say with 1850/1900 in SAT-I you are not going to get into even good universities like UCSD and Ohio State university what to talk about Ivy league.

Please tell me which colleges should i apply to and please do rate my chances in the following

UCLA
UCSD
UC Berkeley
Georgia Tech

DREAM CHANCES

Stanford University
IVY LEAGUE

All sound good except for maybe columbia and brown. Work on test scores

Could you please chance me for ucb, ucd, ucsd, cal poly?
Intended Major = Computer Science
ACT = 28
SAT = 1810(540/660/610)
GPA(UW) = 3.8
GPA(W) = 3.9
AP’s = AP Physics B(4)
Senior year Courseload = AP Calculus BC, AP Computer Science, AP Physics C, Art, Govt, English
EC = 4th place state level in open source software development, Robotics, Karate

Moved to USA from India for Junior year therefore absence of AP classes

OP, you look like a solid applicant, though you might find it a bit difficult to stand out in a stellar applicant pool for top schools like Columbia and Brown.

I’m sure you’ll get accepted into at least one or two, Northeastern and Fordham in particular, but if you really want to get into the the more selective schools, you should come up with good essays.

It’d also be good to have some real safeties on your list too.

hey, I am a junior high school and I am wondering what my chances will be.
GPA: 3.6 unweighted (out of 4)
SAT score: 2350
Subject SAT’s: Math: 770, (hope to get that to an 800 and I am hoping to take physics and chem)
AP’s: Taking AP Stats, AP Calc, and AP Physics.( hopefully I will get 5’s)
Resume: Took part in math league, part of the varsity track team and hopefully captain of the varsity track team this year, 26 hours of community service at the library(will get more for sure), and I am planning on gaining some business experience this year.
What are my chances on getting into NYU Stern?

Very impressive profile. I think you should be able to get into all the colleges you listed. Only thing is, I would suggest using your ECs to show a particular interest (music?) and then aim for higher colleges.

Good luck!

Please chance back

like everybody else, I believe that columbia or brown will be a little of a reach but besides that, you can make it to just about any other college.
