Extra Note: My mother passed away during my freshman year, which led to me putting in a lot more time helping with the siblings; this is reflected in my applications.

I’m interested in UF, UGA, and Lehigh. I applied EA to UGA and UF and will most likely be applying regular to Lehigh, but perhaps ED2. What do you guys think my chances are? Any better fit recommendations? Thanks

Did I do something wrong with the thread? Extra info needed or something? Or is it just that I’m not applying to HYP or Stanford? Lol

I think they are all a good fit, but your GPA might hurt you at Lehigh

I think given your circumstances your GPA seems justified to an extent. That being said, you still have a solid everything else. Your ECs and test scores aren’t INCREDIBLE but they qualify you for where you want to go and I think you’re good for the places you’re applying. Lehigh might be a little bit of a stretch, but then again I don’t know the school that well other than what I’ve heard about it.

Care to chance me back please?

@collegelyfelolol would gladly chance you back, link to the thread? You too @FoldingChair if you have one.

@erpmk23 Your test scores are definitely within range of those admitted at Lehigh, UGA and UF. It’s just your gpa that could hurt your chances, I still think you’d be a great fit at most of these schools and you do seem to have a legitimate reason why your gpa dropped. I would say low reach/match for all of them.

I’m not so sure about UF. Florida has some of the most affordable in-state tuitions, and UF is its flagship. I think that admissions are heavily based on GPA, and so I think it is more of a reach for the OP. I would add UCF and USF to the list as matches/safeties.

^^I was going to say the same thing about UF . . . it’s harder for OOS applicants (heck it’s hard for in-state applicants). The one thing I see in your favor is decent course rigor which is a top criteria for them (they use holistic admissions). If your private school is well-known that helps too.

Thanks guys! Remember to leave a link if you want a chance back

Try applying to a few schools in the Midwest (maybe Case Western) or to some others on the West Coast (like Gonzaga). I’m so sorry about what happened with your mother, and I applaud your having gotten back on the horse! Good luck

Here’s mine: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1825819-for-my-list-extensive-p1.html

I’m also applying to Purdue and a few others, these are just my top 3

I say good matches for all, except work on that gpa a little for lehigh.

Just Post a link to your thread @kimsanityyyy

UF- Reach
Lehigh- Low Reach
UGA- Match

Lehigh is big on interest. Visit multiple times if you can. I went on a tour there and they legitimately said that anything you can do to show interest (I.E. Campus tours, going to their booth at fairs, etc.) earns you “points” that they factor into admissions. It’s kind of stupid, but whatever.

Thanks for the Lehigh advice
Anybody who knows more about UF, could you tell me exactly how much of a reach this is? It’s kind of my #1 so Id like an idea lol

UNC Chapel Hill - decent reach but great school

Hey, I’m from FL and want to go to New England. Haha. Anyway, UF has been more selective each year, your SATs look pretty good for UF, however your gpa is a little low, considering many in-state kids have like 4.3 or 4.4 gpas (And even some of them get rejected). Your Sat is pretty high though, and I think that you have a good shot. UF is very hard to predict. Hoped this helped.

Also, take a look at Florida State. Although it isn’t quite as highly ranked as UF, the campus is absolutely beautiful and it is a great school as well. (I visited both UF and Florida State.)
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Hopefully, I helped

Also applied to FSU, not as interested though.

So I guess UF is a huge reach then :frowning:
