Hey, I’d say you’re definitely in at NYU, I’m not so sure about the others though. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/942665-chance-me-wash-u-st-louis-boston-college-u-chicago-more-please.html#post1065040741

In: NYU
Match: Reed, Vassar, CMU, Bard, Middlebury
Reach: Swarthmore, Williams, Amherst, Yale
I’ve never heard of Kenyon so I can’t really give an opinion.
Your passion for creative writing is a huge plus (I’m assuming that’s what you want to go into). Write your common app on this to convey passion. I think you have a good chance at CMU since you attended the summer program there. If you write your essay and talk about how your experiences there coupled with the academic program that you are interested in makes you a good match then I would say that you have a great chance. Swarthmore, Amherst, and Williams are all very difficult to get into, but I think that you are in a competitive applicant pool and have a pretty good chance. I don’t think many people have an actual good chance of getting into Yale so it’s a reach for everyone.

Obviously, I am no expert, but I hope my input could be considered accurate

I actually want to go into theatre but I will probably continue creative writing for most of my life. Thank you!

KY will help with the top schools. You havn’t told us rank (official or not) which is a key factor.

I don’t really know my rank. My grade has 32 people, so I might be top 10%?

bump ;

Hello!

I think you’re in with NYU and Reed. Vassar is harder but you seem to be in great standing. Williams is extremely selective, but again, you seem to have great scores. Yale is of course going to be a complete gamble. I wouldn’t bet on it, but it wouldn’t hurt to apply.

So you are majoring in theatre? If so it is going to drastically change the rankings and chances. What specifically since it is such a large field, acting, musical theatre, drama?

Why NYU? It’s very different from the other schools to which you’re applying.

Consider applying to Dartmouth. It appears to fall in line with your interests. The application is simple, and the school is great.

As for your chances, that’s difficult to determine. You have the stats, so you’ve got a decent shot.

I agree NYU sticks out here. Are you sure you are interested in it? I wouldn’t recommend it.

I visited and liked it, but I do think I would be happier at other places. But NYU will probably take me.

Thanks for the recommendation- I’ll look into Dartmouth

If you are going into theatre and applying to Tisch then I wouldn’t take it so lightly…

I’m not applying to Tisch- haha believe me, I’m nowhere near pompous enough to assume I could waltz into Tisch! But I think I’m a good match for CAS or Gallatin.

You should definitely get into NYU then as for the rest of the schools,
Yale - reach
Middlebury - low reach
Kenyon - not familiar
Bard - not familiar
Vassar - match
Swarthmore - low reach
Amherst - reach
Williams - reach
Carnegie Mellon - match

I am only putting them down as reaches since you can never be really all that sure although you will definitely be a competitive applicant.

Thank you all so much!

I agree with starryeyed93. Although you do not have the strongest gpa in the applicant pool, you have amazing SAT scores. Although You have many strong ECs, I feel as though you are a little scattered. Your strength in English is shown prevalently, but in other areas such as sports you seem slightly scattered. I would say you have a strong chance of getting into NYU, Middlebury, Kenyon, Bard, and Vassar, but the others seem like a reach. Essays at these schools will defintely increase your chances as these schools are particular on that (if you are as strong as you say you are Haha).
