Will changing from honors to regular class affect my chance of admission?

I’m currently in my second semester of senior year of highschool. I’ve been accepted to UIUC and am waiting for my UC application to be reviewed. Throughout my high school career, I have been a regular honors student. This semester, I wanted to change from a Honors english course to regular english, but need to notify my schools of this change. I already called the UC office, and they said it will make me less competitive of a applicant. But I was thinking because it’s second semester senior year, and just one class, how much does it really affect my admissions? The UC schools, UCLA mostly, is a reach school for me, so I want to have the best chance I can to get in, but I also really don’t want to take this class for a semester.

UC already gave you the answer - course rigor is important. If you want the best chance of acceptance, stay in your current class and do well…

If you can’t handle Honors English, how will you handle College english? At least you are not in AP!
