I have 2 O's and 5 S's this year... Will only having 2 O's affect my chances of getting into a highly prestigious university? Do universities even care/look at about citizenship grades?

Citizenship is graded like this at my school:
O-Outstanding
S-Satisfactory
N-Needs improvement
U-Unsatisfactory

Thanks so much to everyone who answers! :)

No to both questions.

Are you talking about a required “pass/fail” type of course? What state are you in?

I don’t think any college will care a hill of beans. It seems like it must be a HS graduation requirement.

No, it’s not a course. Each teacher for every subject grades their students individually. I’m in CA.

So the important question is - does it show up on your transcript?

My kids have conduct and effort grades, here in NJ (might even be town specific), for each subject, and it does not show up on transcripts.

Thank goodness mine didn’t, I never got above a 3 (where 1 was the best) out of 4 on self-control :)

Only insofar as your teachers opinions are shown in your letters. If you are truly a “poor citizen” of your school, the GC or teacher LoR may reflect that. But the little notes about behavior that show up on report cards are generally BS. At my kids school, half the teachers just don’t bother to put anything. Don’t worry about it.
