I am almost sure that i will get a very high score on the ACT (34 + on all practice exams (4) and 1 i got a 36 on). So, i really only want colleges to see my ACT score. But , I heard that when you submit SAT II’s to colleges, the SAT I score shows up.

Is this true?

If it is true, will colleges look at the “better score”?

This is a great question (only because it is tough to answer). Yes it is true that if you submit SAT 2s, the SAT I comes along for the ride.

Typically, an assistant (usually a work-study student) will look at the score report (with both SAT 2 and SAT I scores). He/she will most likely list the highest SAT I scores as well as the SAT 2 scores requested by the student on the cover of the admissions folder.

So ad officers will most likely see both the SAT I and ACT score. However, the "better score" will get highlighted or "spotlighted". The other one will be available but likely ignored by the ad officer reviewing your folder. In all likelihood, the officer will likely never "see" your SAT I score, so I wouldn't worry about it. Even if the ad officer does see your SAT score, he/she will likely just conclude that the SAT is not your test (like many other students) and faithfully only consider the ACT.

I am going to visit a few schools in the Northeast this coming week, is there any school you want me to ask directly?

wow thank you so much for all this information. i guess harvard would be the only one i 'd really want to know from.

btw my current sat is 690 CR- 780 Math 660 (10 essay). I realize that my Cr+Math is a pretty decent score, but writing is dragging me down a lot and my ACT score is most likely going to be 34-36.
