I'm not really sure what is happening with the SAT I essay/writing part and how colleges are going to look at it. I know some schools won't even look at the score, or may look at it as a factor rather than a score like the other parts. The question is:

Can colleges actually see the original essay that you wrote on the test?

If not, then it's easier to go off and BS the essay and not really worry. But I think I heard someone say that colleges can actually see what you wrote.

Thanks

Colleges will get to look at the essay if they want to. There has been some speculation that some colleges might us the essay as a check against your personal statements on your application. If, for instance, your personal statement on your application seems leaps and bounds better than your grades and test scores, they might hold your SAT I essay up next to your personal statement to see if it looks like they're written by the same person (based on content, sentence structure, whatever.)

I wouldn't worry too much about what you write, though. Really, schools know you only have 25 minutes and are trying to get your best score with an SAT style essay...

Wait, how would they actually get the text of your essay? I thought they just saw the score

Same way you get them...in a pdf file or a print-out. They scan them in so they can send them to scorers, so they already have the digital copy. It's easy to send them to schools.
