Will colleges be able to see your enrollment status at another school?

Okay, so this is a weird post. Bit of background first, I’m a transfer student. Basically: I wasn’t able to apply to all the colleges I initially wanted to because of financial block on my account at a community college. The school claimed I owed them money I didn’t. They blocked my ability to send transcripts, hindering my ability to apply to any school I hadn’t yet applied to.

By the time the block was removed, it was too late. I did get into one of the two schools I applied to, but couldn’t afford it. But my financial situation is miles different than it was when I was accepted. I submitted a deferral request, and the school accepted it, and I can attend in Spring.

However, there are other schools I have a lot of interest is, and don’t even know for sure if I can afford the tuition there yet or not yet. Would the other schools be able to see that I’m technically enrolled at another college, and would it affect my decisions at other schools? I want to have my options open and I’m not even sure I’ll be able to afford the tuition yet.

Timing is the issue, if the first school submits your data to the Nation Student Clearinghouse in time for the other schools to get it. Hard to say. Would they care? Hard to say.

@vonlost thanks for the response! Should I notify the other schools of the issue or ask them, and see what they have to say?

Tell #3 that you are currently deferred from #2 and had planned to attend in the spring, but that you really do prefer #3 and will indeed attend if the numbers work out.
