Will colleges know I moved?

I moved between my sophomore and junior year (current). I am trying my best to continue as many of my extracurricular activities as possible, but some just don’t exist here. On my application, I have a lot of activities that I did freshman and sophomore, and then was not able to continue afterwards. Would this “quitting” and joining of multiple clubs/activities that I did not participate in before look bad on my application?

Another problem is my lack of leadership positions due to having to move and not being able to apply for leadership positions in clubs. I’m not sure if I can attain any positions this year either, because there’s people who have been in clubs for 2-3 years, and they obviously know more about the clubs and have been more active in them. There’s not really any significant positions that I will be able to gain.

My GPA and test scores are great (4.0 GPA, SAT score is coming out tomorrow, but I’m estimating 2250-70), and I’m looking at top schools. I have a good variety of extracurriculars so far (but I’m not able to continue a lot them). So my application looks very choppy, and I have a lot of (9th-10th), and (11th)s.

I’m looking at UCLA, UC Berkeley, Stanford, USC, etc… Will these colleges know of my situation and why I don’t have much leadership? What is my best hope at this point, and how significant of an impact does this have?

Colleges will understand your situation. It’s not really all about leadership positions, as those are often popularity contests. You don’t need to be President of the club to have an impact.

If that club wasn’t available at your school, could you create one?

It’s too late to create a club this year, but I’m thinking of trying to create one next year. The main problem is needing an adviser, and most of my teachers this year are already advisers for other things. Maybe it’ll work out though.

Although I’m sure moving schools will not be a benefit towards admissions, I’m just wondering if it may have any negative impacts.
