Will colleges look at my horrible SAT score?

I took the SAT in March of 2011 at got a 2120. I was happy with it, but I thought I could do better. I took the SAT again in October of 2011 and got a 1970...every single category went down. To superscore my SATs would be to only look at the 2120 SAT.

I already sent the October 2011 SATs (along with my better SAT score) as part of the College Board's free registration opportunity. Now the four colleges I want to attend most see that I went down 200 points my second time taking the SAT :(

Will this affect my admission chances?

The four schools that got my scores are UChicago, the University of St. Andrews (Scottish), Scripps, and Bryn Mawr.

I am wondering the same. My CR went down 60 and my math went down 40. I feel horrible, I knew I had a bad day, and I should have canceled my scores, but I felt good about writing so I was hopeful for a miracle. The miracle did not happen, and my scores have been sent to emory and georgetown… I am so worried this will hurt me, even though my previous CR+M is fair 1410… vs. october sat’s 1310…

Hm, well I guess it’s good to know that we aren’t in this alone :)

Bump!

Well, at least they’ll have your high scores, too. You are not the only ones. A certain percent goes up, stays the same and goes down with second sitting. Do not remember stats.

I feel like I ruined my chances at these schools.

NEVER use the college board “free” score report. To save $10 you are sending a school scores that you have NO idea what you scored - this is simply too risky. You have score choice - don’t risk sending a blind score. The college is now going to have that score in front of them - was the 1970 more accurate or the 2120? Common sense somewhere in between the two - the average.

You all need to stop complaing about those scores,it makes you all look like an A-hole, I would kill to get a 1700 and your complaing about a 1970? You need to be more greatful, there are so many kids who wish they could get half of your “bad” score
