Help! I'm just a clueless rising sophomore and my dream since the start of high school is to get into Columbia University...

If you have experience with this kind of business help me!!!!
1) Which is more important: GPA or AP?
2) SAT's need nearly how much: 2200 < ?
3) Is taking sports in college (Columbia let's say) going to kill me, with studying and other stuff?

unless you're in with the higher ups at the college board, your an idiot for taking teh SATs your frosh year. waist of time and up untill now the colleges see that. could only hurt you.

that being said, the rules are changing so your real lucky. Dont take it again till junior year like everyone else, k?

How is he an idiot for taking it? He's got more experience than his peers at this point and 1850 is great for a freshman. Colleges don't see his score, and he was probably aware that CB is changing its policy. Don't give crap advice.

1850 is great for a frosh, but if he doesn't work on it, he probably won't do any better than a 21 or 2200 by the time he takes them as a junior.

Get that GPA up, and get 5s on your APs. + good ECs

Or what about connections to college?
Can connections only work with graduates?

Parents/immediate family can help a bit, but not much, it's certainly not the most important part of the application. Unless your parents have donated millions to the school

Connections are iffy. Depends who you know--if it's a Nobel Prize winner, it could get you a leg up. If your regular tenure professor, can't help much.

Don't focus on who you know: and I know this from experience. Work on your stats and your essay, make sure those are good, then try and leverage your connections

Save time before taking the SAT again. After all, taking it more than 3 times looks bad. Nvm. You can send whichever scores you want with the new policy...
