Will committing a minor "crime" have a big impact on my application?

Hey guys,
On all the applications that ask if you've plead guilty to anything other than a minor traffic offense, I have to reluctantly mark yes. However, I did not kill anyone. I violated park curfew by 15 minutes. Will this have a negative effect on my application (with an explanation) or could it be used to make a positive one?

-Thanks

If admissions pays attention to such a frivolous thing it would be rediculous. I hope you explain what happened. I don't believe that you are legally required to answer that question, either.

It could have a negative effect on your app, it could have no effect, or it could have a positive one, depending on how you present the explanation and how it affects the reader who makes the admissions decisions.

Rejected!!!!

no i dont think so, b/c a minor traffic violation has nothing do with how worthy you are of achieving

This is a joke right? Put it down if it is eating you alive, but in reality the only offenses that show up on record's checks are felonies and violent misdemeanors. Wouldn't even sweat it. By the time you and your friends graduate college, half of you will probably have at least 3 or 4 misdemeanors that aren't traffic realted (i.e. open container, loitering, disorderly conduct etc.) so minor that you won't even remember them.

My reply explained what happened, then I went on to say how it taught me valuable lessons about peer pressure and being myself. I tried to make it stand out that I was being honest with them.

Pull some strings and have it expunged. That's what I'd do, if I didn't have the good sense to go to court in the first place.

Honestly, who the hell cares! It's such a frivolous offense ... I can't even believe that would be on anyone's criminal record. You should have at the very least gone to court and gotten a lawyer, if you were so concerned about it. The lawyer would have certainly gotten the charges thrown out, even if it was for a price.

Joey

you should say that you were studying in the park or helping an elderly woman find her glasses in the dark

I just got a summons for disorderly conduct. How bad is it? Is it comparable to a parking ticket? I know I won't have it on my record but the whole "court" thing makes me feel really uneasy...i wont be in jail right? just a fine?

FYI: my "crime" was just talkin back to an officer when he was talkin crap about my friend...we were in a restaurant and my friend just came in and the cop was like either buy something or get out, i was like...who the hell you think you are...

damn, i dont think its too serious, i mean hopefully ur still a minor lol. Prolly jus a fine. At least ur apps are out already so it wont really affect that. Gluck bro
