I am an international student and applied ED to cornell for architecture. The thing is I am worried as I have low stats I.e 1130/1600 and my grades in 11th were not great due to health problems. I aslo got a 530 on SAT2 M1. I explained the low score in my essay. However my interview and portfolio is brilliant. My portfolio was reviewed by an alumni of cornell and she said it was awesome and she was innthe admissions committee a few years back. Do you think my grades would bring me down? And I also applied for fin aid. Would my grades and portfolio play a role in the amount of fin aid I get or is it how much I need/benefit from the aid?

Your grades will be a significant factor in admissions. Hopefully your grades have rebounded this year and your recommendations provided some further insight to your intellectual ability. It’s OK to have a lopsided scores, but two low scores (in both CR and math) would be problematic.

You’ll find out soon enough, so try to put Cornell out of mind and concentrate on your other applications.

Financial aid for internationals is very difficult to predict. Cornell does not guarantee to meet full need for internationals. It’s impossible to know what criteria they will use to determine how much aid they will allot (if you are admitted).

This is how they explain it.
I would translate that as “it depends on how much they want you.”

Again, hope for the best but be prepared for the worst and have those other applications set to go.
