Will CS61A be curved at all?

I'm currently taking the course (with DeNero) and the class's grading scale is pretty harsh (lose about 20 course points overall and you preclude your possibility of getting a solid A). I've been doing well in the course as far as rankings are concerned (around top 10% of the class or so) but I've lost a couple careless points in the midterms and gotten lazy point deductions for not completing homework by the time I should've (guess it's my fault for being such a lenient student). Also, the first midterm was just brutal (average was pretty low) so most people have had some pretty significant point deductions by this point in the semester.

Does anyone who has taken CS61A before know if the class will ever be curved in any way (e.g. by revising the grading scale, by curving on a final-score basis, etc.)? Have instructors made exceptions to this strict grading scale in the past?

They say they don’t curve it. But he will change the grade boundaries until there something like
25% As, ~50%Bs, ~20%C, 5% DEF

Nope he didn’t curve it last Fall. Everything was strictly based on the grade breakdown on the syllabus :/.

He will curve it (aka adjust the grading scale). If you were in lecture today, he mentioned he would find a way to give back to students 10 points for the brutal first midterm.

If you are in the top 10%, I don’t see why you would be worried… Like Kazakia mentioned, it’s 25% A’s, of which 17-18 are solid A/A+. Your username is really true, lol. Just keep doing well on the 4th project and the final, and I think you will do just fine.
