Will dropping a class before transferring negatively affect my application?

Hey guys, I had a question about dropping a class before transferring. I got accepted to UCSD and plan on going there.

My grandfather (my only one) has been extremely sick and had his leg amputated and him having to be put on oxygen 24/7 etc. As a result I wasn’t able to put my full time into Chemistry 2 and I was a risk of getting a C or worse.

If I drop will UCSD take away my admittance? Is it possible to retake the class during the Summer even though I did not say I was retaking when we did the UC application with our planned classes?

Please help!

I would be shocked if they didn’t accommodate extenuating circumstances like that. I wouldn’t remove anything from your application without explaining the situation to them first.

It’s possible that they will if Chemistry 2 is a prerequisite for your major. Definitely offer to take it over the summer, and explain your situation thoroughly.

Yes you are at risk if you drop it so dont drop it yet, contact them and explain your situation really really thoroughly first

Thanks guys, who do I contact and explain my situation to?

should be on this page: http://admissions.ucsd.edu/contact/ Start by calling, but follow up with an email or letter.
