Will early action hinder chances?

I have heard early action is more competitive and I don’t want to hurt my chances, but if I was accepted I’d be able to cross some schools off my list for rd.

For reference my stats are as follows:
Act: 35
Sat II: 740 bio e 740 math 1
Gpa: 94.3uw 95.6w
Rank: top 15%. (Not reported but exact rank is 11/91)
Normal public school
Taking 3 APs this yr (Calc ab, stats, and English)
APUSH 5 APWH 3

Ecs
Class VP elected this yr
Internship with congressman. Last summer
Volunteering 4 years
Baseball 4 years
NHS
Section leader of band 3 yrs
Baseball card collection of massive proportions 4yrs
A couple more I don’t feel like listing

White
Male
Penn

Recs and essays are good.

Just wondering if I would be competitive enough that applying early won’t hurt me or if I’d have a better shot rd. thanks in advance

EA will not hurt you. Your test scores are great, and your rank is just below the typical for BC where 85% are in the top decile. But you have a small class, so one more A could make a huge difference in rank.

If your essays are better than good – see posts from ScottJ on how to make them great for BC – then go for it.

Good luck.

Thank you for your advice! That makes me a little more comfortable applying ea.
