Will applying Early Action increase chances of acceptance? I know it varies from school to school on the acceptance rates between the two. I am out-of-state, but would love to be at UNC-CH and want to do anything I can to increase my chances!

yes EA will increase your chances

I think EA definitely gives you a better chance if you are IS and I imagine it is the same OOS. Good luck.

the overall acceptance rate for EA is about 46% (collegeboard.com), but i believe for OOS, the EA acceptance rate is still not very high..no more than 25%

so EA IS would be...?

Sorry about that.
IS= In state
OOS=Out of State

no, i mean...if the acceptance rate for IS is ____, is it better if you apply early?

i went to an information session at UNC today and she said for OOS students the middle 50% SAT range is 1350-1450

i think the in-state EA acceptance rate would be around 60% or 65%.

i attended an info session/tour at UNC a few days ago, and the guy who spoke to us told us that applying EA actually does not help applicants..it simply gives ppl more time to consider different options if they do get accepted.

^ to be honest..i dont believe him. theres no possible way EA doesnt increase chances b/c carolina definitely wants kids who are interested in the school. i think the admissions counselor only said this so that applicants dont ALL apply EA.
