I am a senior this year and applying for colleges in Nov
I was thinking of applying early decision to Virginia tech, early action to JMU, and early action to Purdue, all of which have the same deadline (Nov 1st). If I apply early decision to Virginia tech, would it lower my chances of getting into JMU, or Purdue since early decision is binding? Would the admissions see my application to JMUand Purdue as not being serious about attending their school, if I’m ED to another school?
No, the schools do not share info on who is applying.
As long as VTech allows EA applications to other schools, then you should be good.
In fact, many students apply early to multiple colleges as long as it does not violate any rules of the ED college.
If you get admitted to VT in ED, you will have to decline other acceptances (barring financial reasons)
ED colleges typically do not have rules against applying EA elsewhere, although they expect you to matriculate if admitted with sufficient FA. But some EA colleges have rules against applying ED elsewhere or EA to some types of other colleges.
