Will Employers Look Down On UC Transfers?

Graduating from a UC is one thing, but what do you guys think their reaction will be when they discover that we were transfer students? I ask because job applications ask how long we attended our schools for. I would put down 2 years for a UC, they will probably know we transferred from a CCC. Do you guys think that will turn them off? The fact that we didn't go for the full 4 years?

They don’t care. If you had what it took to get in there, they don’t care if you are a transfer. Most look at your diploma, some your grades. Many students go to CC first to save money due to affordability anyway. It’s the smart financial choice if they ask you

I doubt they’ll care. Even if they did, you could say you went for four years(I’m not saying you should lie, but the option is certainly there). If you lie, I can’t imagine how they’d find out.

And @shawnspencer is right about everything.

Thanks for the help guys.

@Cayton I thought of doing that, but I’m afraid they might ask for transcripts later, or call the school to verify. I’m not really sure what they tell the person who called, but I’m guessing they will say I attended from this year to this year.

@Philosoup‌

lol, asking for transcripts is over the top, but anything is possible, right? In any case, I doubt employers have the mentality that transfers = inferior students.

What the heck, is this the CIA or something? Don’t stress it. Put 4 years, and if they ask for transcripts, grab your crotch and say, I got your transcripts right here!

Employers often ask to see transcripts for entry level positions from recent grads . Don’t lie
I doubt they care if you were a transfer.

LOL. Well they could always check using student clearing house or whatever it is. But there is really no reason to lie, because it doesn’t matter.

Yeah, I was just kidding of course, sorry about that. Don’t lie, and definitely don’t grab your crotch. :)

I’m sure they won’t care. If you’re going into teaching or something science-based, they may ask for transcripts. They can’t have nimrods who barely passed teaching kids, and they can’t have folks blowing up labs. :-)

They only look down on people who have not graduated from Stanford or any Ivy League School.

They don’t care and why would they even know? All anyone ever does is put their graduation date on their resume.

When you enroll at a UC and your senior year comes around, you’ll discover that some companies require you to bring an unofficial copy of your transcript to the interview.

That’s how they know.

Well it’s nothing to be ashamed about.

Also, a friend who is high up in a huge investment co said they get a lot of first hires from CCC students who transferred to a UC. I find this kind of thinking that a CC is something to be embarrassed about just wrong and I really hate the perpetuation of it. They’re going to look at your grades if they ask at all. You do well, that’s it.

@Mikemac @Lindyk8 If they require UNOFFICIAL transcripts, then you can just forge them to included freshman and sophomore years.

There are big plusses to going to CCC: 1) you don’t want a mountain of debt and choosing it was a savvy financial move, and 2) you are driven and wanted only UCLA or UCB and knew you wouldn’t get it from high school so chose CCC because you will not give up. Wouldn’t a company want someone who has that sort of business acumen and drive?

If you have a great GPA from CCC add those transcripts too.

I’ve had a hell of a time trying to get a decent internship while at CC, but once you’re at a UC and graduate they won’t care. You are doing the meat of your degree at the UC anyways.

I never heard employers asking to prove your diploma or asking for your grades. They can check if you have a degree or not with background checks, but that’s it. They can’t get any additional information except for major + the school you attended (and most employers don’t do this either).

@Mosh1010 Can they see what you majored in?

Hmmm, after reading the above it does seem like some headhunting services ask for your unifficial transcripts to be uploaded, but maybe that’s just for them, to verify GPA/ major, I would assume.
