Hello there.
I am an international student who managed to get accepted (and subsequently enrolled) in a highly competitive liberal arts college in the United States.
However, I am afraid that my acceptance may be at jeopardy because of my final IB exam scores.
While I did manage to graduate my high school, maintaining a moderately high GPA (in terms of the regular American GPA grading system), I cannot say with certainty that I will be awarded the IB Diploma.
In the mock exams, I did fine, scoring 7s in 4 subjects, a 6 in one subject, and a 4 in a subject that I had been struggling with from the beginning. However, the Mathematics HL and Chemistry HL exams this year were particularly challenging, and I doubt that I performed as well. In fact even if I do manage to get my diploma (as my worry stems from my belief that I may not be able to fulfill my Higher Level requirements) I will be scoring 4-5 points below my predicted score (still in the low 30s though).
Therefore my question is: If I managed to graduate high school, and maintained a GPA similar to the one I was accepted with (a slight drop that should not put me in danger) but my final IB Diploma examinations did not go as well, and I did not manage to pass IB, and given that my final IB scores are entirely independent of my high school GPA/graduation (and final transcript), is it likely that the US school will rescind my acceptance?
Sub-question: Should I e-mail them now, informing them of the situation?
Thanks in advance.
