My daughter is in 11th and in school Varsity golf.
She competes in county tournaments, hits about 87.
She is at a competitive school with grade deflation.
GPA is 3.5-3.6, not many APs or honors except in foreign languages.
She’s taking French 5 & Span 3 Honors.
No notable awards or activities.
Didn’t take SAT 1&2 yet.
Thinking about studying foreign languages-related majors, physiology (not premed), or education.
Would golf help her get in?
Any advice how to improve her chances?
Your best answer is to fill out a questionnaires on Middlebury website. My D also golfs. I will say send out as many questionnaires as possible to different colleges. Cast the net far and wide.
@hollywoodsign I just looked Middlebury and it ask for you to contact the coach directly rather than fill out a form for golf. However, on most other college web sites under athletics you find a questionnaire link. Fill them out but don’t be surprised if you don’t get a response. Some schools are more on top of the questionnaire then other. She is just a senior so we haven’t got to the college yet. We are talking to coaches and spending the night with the team in hopes to find the perfect fit. We are focused more on academics and then adding in a competitive golf team. So, we will see how it all ends up. Good luck!
The golfers on the women’s golf roster shoot in the 70’s to low 80’s. We don’t know the difficulty of the courses relative to the courses your daughter plays on. The link also has a tab for prospective student athletes.
