Hi, This is my first semester of college and I got a GPA of 2.57. Here are my grades :

Introduction to Psychology : A
Elementary Spanish : A
Introduction to Business : D+
ESL College success: D

I feel bad, really bad. I don't know what to do, I don't even want to go back to school. I'm not motivated anymore like I got two D's. I thought I was gonna do well but I failed. I am in a community college and would like to transfer to a four-year University.

Yes, those D’s will transfer. Your entire transcript is reviewed by admissions people from colleges to which you apply, and is then part of your academic record at the school which you attend.

Do not get too discouraged. Figure out what caused you to get the low grades (not enough effort, not grasping the material and not seeking help, not taking the course seriously - your screen name raises that question, etc) and change what behaviors/attitudes are necessary to succeed in the future.

If by “transfer” you mean “receive academic credit for,” the answer is likely no. While post #2 is correct regarding the new university reviewing your entire transcript, those D’s are probably not going to become semester hours that apply to the new institution’s graduation requirements.

As soon as your CC’s offices are open in January, go have a nice long chat with the Transfer Advisor. That person’s whole job is to help people transfer on to a 4-year college or university. You need to meet with that person, and talk about your long-term goals, and the best ways to achieve them. It is OK to take an extra semester or two at the CC in order to pull your GPA up, and to get yourself on track.
