For some reference, I’m a 3+1 student at my current private university which is lacking a lot of infrastructure to my liking (practically no research opportunities, other academic activities such as honor societies, and even basic intramural sports, all Pre-COVID).
The 3+1 allowed me to challenge myself in an otherwise stagnant environment, but now as I transfer for my Junior fall, I’ll be approaching 70 credits. A lot of institutions I’m applying too are Ivies/T20 and are suggesting / insisting I can’t have more than 60 (to what ever their equivalence is) transferable credits. While not all of mine will transfer, I’m deciding whether to stay with my current 17 credits or shift down to 14.
The class I’d be dropping is an “easy” class, and this would still be probably my most difficult semester (Physics + lab, Calc II, Arabic, Comp sci). Would schools look down upon this? I took 14 credits my fall freshman semester, 20 spring freshman, 6 over the summer, and 19 this fall.
Any advice is appreciated in this post or the next (about a different topic). Thanks!
