Will High School & Other College Bad Grade Hurt Transfer?

Hello there. I just wanna ask my chance for the school that I’m looking for.

I wasn’t even a ok student back to the high school and my first CC. Due to my culture shock and lack of English proficiency (yeah I was a new immigrant back then) My grade suffered when I was a high school kid and barely graduated from high school with a weighted 2.76 and multiple D&Fs.

Then I went to a CC in Cali for almost 3 years with super low GPA (1.75)due to that I was suffering some health issue.

After that I decided to break out from colleges and join the military. I just got discharged last year and then I straight went to a CC in Washington State. So far I’m pursuing a AS/AAS in astronautics engineering with a overall GPA of 3.88 and no single class is below 3.0. And I’m almost done.

Now I am looking into some transfer into a four-year to get my BS/BAS. I’m not trying to push for top schools like MIT/ CIT/ G Tech because I know that will be unrealistic for me. Instead I’m looking for something like Arizona State/ Cal State/ UW (if possible) and CU(university of Colorado, if possible).

So my question is, with my poor previous academic history, how is the chance for me to get into the school I want? Or I should drop down my expectations?

Thank you for help!

The break and the time in the military gave you time to mature and grow up. The better grades later on is an excellent demonstration of that. That works in your favor and improves your chances. Good luck to you!
