I have a fairly low GPA of 3.33, and my SAT score is 1900 total (1220, Writing excluded). I attend Fountain Valley High school, and I heard there was some kind of local preference, and my school’s included? Many people have been telling me that it’s going to be hard to get into Cal State Long Beach. How likely would I be able to get accepted with these scores?
Use the CSU calculator to see your stats and eligibility. https://secure.csumentor.edu/planning/high_school/elig_index_calculator.asp
I get 3864. This is what the LB website has posted:

You should be okay with that EI. Unless I calculated it wrong.
Depending upon your major, CSULB has a STEM eligibility index:
The “STEM Eligibility Index” for CSULB ranking in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) majors is calculated as follows:
(College Preparatory Grade Point Average* X 600) + SAT Critical Reading + (2 X SAT Math)
Since you are local, there is more leniency in your EI but CSULB receives over 90,000 applications each year so the rule of thumb for competitive majors is to have an EI of 3900 or higher.
Good Luck.
