I'm currently a junior in high school with a weighted GPA of 3.7 (on a 4.0 scale). My guidance counselor said it's "good" for art schools, but when I saw my friend also majoring in art getting a 3.6 uw GPA, I felt like a failure.

Classes I took:
Freshman year: all honors classes
Sophomore year: honors classes except history
Junior year: all honors, 1 AP (English), regular math
I took biology honors, chemistry honors, and physics honors so I won't be taking any science courses in my senior year since my guidance counselor approved of that.

For senior year, I plan to take AP Lit, AP Art, and AP Spanish. (everything else is honors except for math, no science, 1 study hall)

SAT Scores:
1st time: 1720 - W/590 M/570 C.R/540 (I plan on retaking it this May or June)

E.C:
Track and field in freshman year
S.A.V.E. Club for 2 years
Art Club 3 years
Scenic Crew 3 years
IACC (international asian culture club) 3 years
French Club 1 year
Spanish club 2 years

Volunteer Hours:
None so far...(am I doomed?) I plan to volunteer during the summer.

Portfolio:

I will make it amazingly good to counter balance my academics.

I want to major in graphic design or architecture. Some of the schools I'm interested in are Pratt, Parsons, MICA, RISD*/B, CMU CFA, SVA, and Syracuse U. The ones that I really want to get into are **RISD, CMA school for art, or MICA. Every time I visit their websites to see the statistics and requirements, I feel more and more like a failure in school. Is it true that art colleges look more into your portfolio than your academic achievements? What can I do to increase my chances in getting into prestigious art schools like RISD?

(***** not sure 100% if I want to go there...I heard it's *really *selective and life will be a living hell once you get in....)

Thanks! c:
