I have gotten all A’s and B’s with 1 D in Honors Algebra II. My friend said that they don’t accept D’s and they will not let you get to semifinals when you have a D even if you passed the initial test and made above the cutoff.
Is this true? Is all hope lost since I got a D?
For further scholarship opportunities, should I retake the class in summer to get an A, so it doesn’t weigh me down?
If you make the PSAT test cutoff for your state, then you will make semi-finals.
But, you won’t likely make finalist unless that one D is only a quarter grade and won’t be your transcript. What was the semester grade?
The semester grade was a 73, but I got a 81 the next semester.
My final grade averaged out to be a 77
So your transcript shows something like
first semester C
second semester B
Year end grade C
Ask to see a copy of your transcript.
First semester is a D

Second semester is a B and finals is a C

(Ignore the top grade in all of those screenshots)
Put a dot between the pu and ush to see those screenshots
I put a . between the pu and ush and it’s not opening. I’m on an iPad, so that may be why.
altho I can’t see what you’ve posted, the D for the semester and the Final grade C is a problem.
Are you a senior? Were you named a NMSF? What was your PSAT for your junior year?
No, I am a junior. I just want to know if there is a chance of me getting a scholarship although I have also heard that semifinalists can get scholarships too depending on what college(s) you apply to?
Is it worth retaking the class?
i don’t think it would help retaking the class next year because a grade won’t be there when the school sends the transcript in early fall.
Did you take the PSAT this month? You don’t yet know if your PSAT will be high enough.
Yes, if you do make NMSF, there are some schools that will give you a scholarship, even if you don’t make Finalist.
Will the D affect most other academic scholarships?
Did you get a D for the end of course grade? I’m having trouble following this.
I got a D (73) for the first semester, I got a B (81) the second semester.
The end of course grade is averaged between the 2, and I got 77 for my end of course grade.

The D may affect competitive awards, but at schools that have assured merit for stats, if your stats meet then minimum, then you’d get it…as long as you’re accepted.
If it is a semester grade, it may be shown on the transcript. Whatever that is shown on transcript will be received by the agency. The PSAT was this morning and a backup date in 2 weeks.
So it should not be in past tense when the above was posted a few days ago.
