I applied to UM during my senior year of hs but was waitlisted and then rejected. My grades were slightly below average for Michigan (92/3.7 gpa) so I wasn’t surprised, but I was disappointed. I’m attending my state university now and after two semesters I’ll have 38 credits, 6 from APs. I believe all of my credits will be transferrable. Let’s be hypothetical - assume I do well and pull a 3.8 or higher. What will UM care more about, my good gpa or the amount of credits I have? My dad went to UM and my brother is applying as a hs senior this year and will undoubtedly get in, so that might help. How are my chances? I’m wondering if my low-ish amount of credits/sophomore standing will make me a poor candidate. Thanks.
I left out some key info - I’m out of state and want to transfer into LSA
If you try and transfer during your freshman year they will look at you high school GPA and test scores.
@TomSrOfBoston 32 ACT, 1440 SAT, 92 GPA. Thoughts?
My recollection from other posts on Univ of Michigan is that they prefer to take transfers after sophomore year rather than after freshman year
