I'm not having luck in the transfer forum, so I'm trying here since Illinois is where I really want to go.

I'm currently attending a CCC, and have a 3.36 with about 90 quarter units. (I thought I had a 3.6 because my unofficial transcript said so, but that's only for my current institution. I totally forgot to add my old grades from a previous college.)

What are my chances of getting accepted for math/physics? For what it's worth, I have pretty solid ECs: Officer for Japanese and Engineering Club, volunteering, tutoring, etc. And I have done most of the pre-reqs for transfer.

Assuming you have taken and are taking all the courses needed for transfer for the majors, you have a decent chance but nothing is certain. Usually one has a better chance at math, which is in the Arts & Sciences college, than physics which is the engineering college (the degree in physics is awarded by Arts & Sciences but the qualifications for admission and course requirements are controlled by engineering college, e.g., those admitted as freshman to physcis usually have grades and test scores that fall within the engineering college’s middle 50% range)

Thanks so much! I was actually wondering whether to apply for math or physics. Curiously though, the GPA guidelines in the transfer handbook place a competitive GPA at 3.2 for math and 3.0 for engineering.

And I’ve completed all of the math pre-reqs, and will finish all physics pre-reqs by summer.
