Well let's consider this possibility...

If i get into School of Applied Science and Engineering in University X, would I be able to switch to the School of Business in the same University if i don't want to stay in the School of Applied Science and Engineering without much trouble?

Note: This is only for undergrad

Depends on the university.

I’m pretty interested in UPenn, so does UPenn allow me to transfer schools in the same University?

Search UPenn for “change major Wharton”.

for most selective schools, they make it rather difficult to switch majors once you are admitted. This is mostly because some applicants will apply for a major, particularly one that is not so popular at the school, for a better chance to get in. For example, someone might apply for an Islamic Civilization and Societies major at Boston College, and then try to switch into their competitive business school once admitted. In order to prevent this as best they can, they make it particularly difficult to switch majors as a current student, sometimes even more difficult than it would have been to apply for that major as a freshman

Overall, it depends on the school
