Hey guys, UT Austin is my first choice for college. Ranking and percentile in class is very important to this college. If I heard correctly, they only accepted 8% now instead of top 10%. My school counselor said I have a extremely high chance of being accepted to this university. I want your opinion. ^^" Thanks!

If you live in Texas, are in the top 3% of your class, then you are an auto admit and there is no need for a “chance” thread. And this year the cut off for UT is top 9%. Now, being admitted to the University is very different than being accepted to the college of your choice. McCombs leads the pack on tightness and of course the honors programs are another story. I am really embarrassed for your GC if you are instate. UT admission practices should be College 101 to all TXGCs. You can also visit the UT board here…great info abounds.

Thank you for your reply. It has brought further relief :D

[Automatic Admission | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/freshmen/after-you-apply/automatic-admission)

Being in the top 3% is above the threshold of top 9% or 8% listed for the near future admissions cycles. Be sure that you meet any other admission requirements (e.g. high school course requirements, etc.).

You are guaranteed admission…
I assume you’ll get into most majors too…
Biomedical engineering is the hardest though, if that’s what you’re going for.
You won’t get into that one.
Some of the engineerings might be iffy…
