Will I be an In-state or Out of state applicant ?

Hey everyone, so I’m in a really complicated situation now.I’m currently a college freshman in a 4 year university. I currently live in Ohio, or specifically an area on the Ohio-Kentucky border .My current school is in Kentucky, and about 40 minutes away from my home in Ohio, and I commute daily to college.

The situation is that I want to transfer to A University in Ohio for my Sophomore year. So since I live in Ohio and commute to college in Kentucky, will I be eligible for in-state tuition on Ohio Universities ? Or will I be considered an OOS applicant just because I attend college in Kentucky now.

FYI :I live with my family in an apartment in Ohio, bought a car here and pay taxes in Ohio as well

Help me !

From your brief “FYI” you have legal guardians who live in Ohio and you will have been living in Ohio for the 12 months preceding your transfer to a Ohio university. So it’s likely that you’ll be considered instate. That said I’m not a lawyer so in case you have any doubt regarding your situation contact the Ohio university to which you’re applying and ask.

Agreed. You probably also graduated from an OH HS and are potentially paying OOS rates in KY (thought possibly not if you are in a bordering county). You should be considered in-state for OH.
