Will I be considered as a in-state resident?

My family recently moved to Georgia from NC, and I am considering going back to NC to live with my dad. My dad still stays in NC for work and my dad's health has gotten very worse latelty. I realized I need to stay with my dad to help him.
However, my mom and sister will stay here and pay taxes.

I have been wanting to attend Georgia tech. I know it is easier to get into as a in-state resident than a outside resident. Also, much cheaper tution and many scholarship opportunities as such HOPE scholarship, etc that only instate resident can have.

Will I still be considered as a in-state resident if my mom stays and pay taxes in GA?

One more thing to add, I am a junior.

The only people who can tell you are in the GA Tech bursar’s office. Asking here won’t help. Contact GT directly. Rules vary btn colleges – even within the same state.

I think you will be considered as a in state, but it’d be best if you contact them directly.

here i found this on this web cite —> http://www.catalog.gatech.edu/financial/general/waiver.php</a>
go to it and read the whole following part.

“Students who come to Georgia Tech from another state and work for companies in Georgia remain ineligible for in-state tuition in the absence of compelling evidence of intent to remain in Georgia permanently. Having Georgia voter registration, having employment in any position normally filled by a student (such as co-op, graduate research assistant, or graduate teaching assistant), having a lease of living quarters, having a Georgia automobile registration, and having Georgia driver’s license do not constitute sufficient evidence of domicile to affect classification as an in-state student under the Board of Regents’ policy.”

I believe you should be able to claim residency through your mother if she supports you or claims you on her tax returns, but check Ga. law to be sure. You are specifically looking into the case where you are a dependent of a Ga. resident, NOT an independent student trying to establish residency on your own.

See this page, scroll down to residency and see A. b. i. and A. b. ii–you must satisfy one of those requirements.
http://www.catalog.gatech.edu/financial/general/classification.php</a></p>

It seems like you can satisfy scenario ii. The school will still be the final say once they see your documentation. Are your parents considered separated?

ps graduate student designations have nothing to do with you
