My whole transcript is fine except for one D+ (a 69%) my first semester of Algebra 2. Second semester I got a B, I was wondering if those will somehow weigh out or should I just not even bother applying? I know it says all grades must be a C or higher which is what I have except for that one semester.

You have to get a C or better in the a-g required courses, so you will be missing 1 semester of Algebra 2 for your a-g required courses. Do you have the minimum Math course to fulfill the a-g requirement without that semester of Algebra 2?? If not, then your application will be rejected. You will need to retake that semster to make up for the D.

http://www.calstate.edu/sas/onestopkiosk/documents/csu-uc-a-gcomparisonmatrix.pdf says that “A grade of C or better in the second semester of a mathematics course validates a D/F in the first semester.” So you are fine as far as fulfilling the “c” requirement (math), assuming you also have geometry with a C or better.

However, the D, if in 10th or 11th grade, will be included in the calculation of your GPA for UC and CSU purposes, and it will be visible to UC admissions readers doing holistic evaluation.
