I promise to play nice. I’m eligible for $4,000 between Pell and Tap but my tuition for the only semester I am attending is $3,105. Will whats left of the two grants not being put towards Tuition be given to me to spend on supplies? Are there certain fees I should look out for that might come out of the $895 remainder? All I know immediately is some sort of $100 security deposit/ enrollment fee that I must pay when I register at CUNY NYC College of Technology.
Also, Will I be promoted to ask whether I want the full amount I am eligible for or will they automatically give me the full amount?
I applied for Tap and Pell one and a half times, I believe it the website is telling me.
The Pell Grant and maybe the TAP grants will be divided into two semesters…even if you’re only going for Fall semester. You won’t get $4k.
Im not too sure about that though. Sorry i didnt clarify. I’m only attending the Spring 2017 semester. Does that change anything? Where else could the funds be divided to. Im attending the last semester in the FASFA financial aid package thingy. I dont think theres any other semester to disburse the funds after Spring 2017.
Maybe they will be forwarded to Fall 2017
OK lol i am not specific enough. Norm my tuition would be $6,720 but since im only attending the latter semester I will only have to pay half of that. $3165 for the spring semester. So that means my Pell and Tap will be also cut in half. TAP aid which would normally be 3k would become $1500. My Pell grant which is 5000 for a full year would become $2500 for the Spring of 2017. All together Its 4k after everything being divided in half. 4k in aid paying for a $3165 tuition, i would be left with $835. I’m Just asking where that remainder goes. Hope i make sense
Pell grant is refundable to you (not sure about TAP, but it can be applied first to tuition, leaving the Pell for the refund). You will receive it as a refund, usually a week or two after the semester starts, but it is up to the school. One of my daughters has been in school for a week and has not received her overage and I’m not sure exactly when it will be sent. The other doesn’t start school until tomorrow and received hers last Thursday. Some schools wait until after the drop/add period to make sure there aren’t adjustments.
I think you are right. I remember the School of Visual Arts refunding me after the first quarter now that you mention it. Ok thank you
