Will I be penalized for one late IDOC document?

Long story short, I think I may have submitted my tax return twice and never submitted my mom’s. If I submit her’s on Monday after I call IDOC, will I receive less aid because of this, or will it just take more time for me to get my aid report? Thanks!

Ask your colleges. They will be able to tell you the answer.

You won’t be penalized specifically for that. IDOC has had a lot of problems this year and it is giving those of us who have to use it grey hairs! However, there is a risk that if your aid application was incomplete by the priority deadline that you will be last in line for funds that can run out and in addition you will receive your financial aid forms late. the best solution to this problem is to call the college and explain that you had IDOC problems; they have heard it all before and they will be best able to advise you as to what the consequences with your error will be.

I am not sure if you should wait till Monday; does IDOC not let you submit on weekend???

Oh for goodness sakes - don’t try to call IDOC! (You’ll likely never get through to them.) Just submit the form now, and send the colleges an email letting them know that mom’s tax return has now been submitted to IDOC, but if they’d prefer, you’d be happy to email it directly to the college as well.
