Will I be put on financial aid probation?

I am a third year transfer student at UC Berkeley.

This first semester has been rocky, and I will most likely be receiving a C- or a D in one of my classes. I am freaking out because I am hearing that if you fail, you will have to pay back financial aid or something like that.

I have looked on the financial aid website and it doesn't say anything about that- it does say that I have to complete 8 units per term. (which I will have completed.)

I will not have a lower than a C average.

So, I guess what I am wondering is if I get a D will I have to pay back financial aid?
Will they take away my financial aid?

Surely students get D's sometimes, right?

Thanks if you can help.

Your school should have a published SAP (satisfactory academic progress) posted somewhere. Do a search for it.

I am guessing you should be ok. Financial aid eligibility is usually based on you cumulative history. Generally it includes things like successfully completing a certain % of all classes attempted (at my daughter’s school it is 75%) and a certain GPA. So if you are passing and maintaining full time status one D should not kill your aid.
